How to Sell Candles

One of the first things you're going to think about is how to sell the candles you make. There are a number of ways and places you can sell your candles, whether you are going to sell strictly in bulk (wholesale) or in smaller amounts.

Here are some ways I suggest you consider when you FIRST starting out:

1. Start with your circle. Drum up demand for your candles by starting at home. Tell your friends and family what you are doing and ask them to sample some candles. If your candles are high quality, you're definitely going to get people asking you to sell your candles to them (this worked for me).

2. Use local merchants. Stop by local gift shops, coffee shops and florists. Give them a business card along with 5 to 10 candles they can sell free. This is an investment on your part but it will pay off. Suggest a retail price and let them know that they are welcome to keep all of the revenue. Leave ordering information so that if they sell out and would like to buy more, they can contact you and purchase candles.

3. Develop an online store. Getshopped.com is a great place to set up a simple online store for your candles.
