How to Sell Candles

One of the first things you're going to think about is how to sell the candles you make. There are a number of ways and places you can sell your candles, whether you are going to sell strictly in bulk (wholesale) or in smaller amounts.

Here are some ways I suggest you consider when you FIRST starting out:

1. Start with your circle. Drum up demand for your candles by starting at home. Tell your friends and family what you are doing and ask them to sample some candles. If your candles are high quality, you're definitely going to get people asking you to sell your candles to them (this worked for me).

2. Use local merchants. Stop by local gift shops, coffee shops and florists. Give them a business card along with 5 to 10 candles they can sell free. This is an investment on your part but it will pay off. Suggest a retail price and let them know that they are welcome to keep all of the revenue. Leave ordering information so that if they sell out and would like to buy more, they can contact you and purchase candles.

3. Develop an online store. Getshopped.com is a great place to set up a simple online store for your candles.

Why Is Making Scented Candles Smart?

By Georg Inderdal

Scented candles add warmth and relaxation to our lives. They can give even the most ordinary home cooked dinner a touch of romance and class, turn bath time into a spa experience and add warmth to even the coldest room in your home. Unfortunately in these tough economic times, paying the price for these simple home additions makes us wince. The price of scented candles have simply gone through the roof. Maybe it is time to consider making scented candles at home?

Making Scented Candles Is A Great Hobby

If you have been looking for a hobby that you might really enjoy, making candles could fill that bill. Making scented candles is an easy and inexpensive craft to learn. The start up cost is extremely low requiring only a few basic things to make jar candles.

Once you learn the basics and have some success, you can purchase books on candle making and before you know it you will be making votives, tea lights and even your own taper candles.

Financial Benefits of Making Your Own Candles

Count up the number of candles you have in your home. Think of how much all those candles cost and now imagine how much you could have saved if you could have purchased those candles at a third or less of that cost. That is approximately how much it would have cost you, had you made them yourself. Can you imagine the savings over the course of a few months or a year?

Welcome to Wholesale Scented Candles and More!

Hi,

Welcome to Wholesale Scented Candles. My name is Tia and I created this blog as part of a competition! Ultimately, I'd like to provide as much helpful information about scented candles - selling them and buying them wholesale, making them, tips, techniques and more. I have experience making candles - paraffin AND soy and I love them. Now that I live in Tucson, Arizona, I probably won't make as many candles (at least, not in the summer) or I may try making gel candles. But this is a good way for me to keep up in the industry.

Please feel free to get in touch with me at wholesalescentedcandles@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Wholesale Candle Making Supplies - Keys to Making Cost Effective Purchases

By Patrick E McTigue

By now, you've likely already recognized that you have the creativity to make beautiful candles that can sell. The next step is material in the form of wholesale candle making supplies. It is important before you begin shopping to have at least a small business plan together so that you have some idea of what kind of wholesale candle making supplies you will need. For example, wax itself is generally alright if stored properly for a significant amount of time. Fragrances and dyes deteriorate when not used or changed out on a regular basis.

Also, keep in mind that wicks are a wood product and even though they are coated, they too can become worthless if not used consistently. It would be a shame to create a beautiful scented candle only to find out that the wick does not burn properly because it is old.

So the key to wholesale candle making supplies is to know what you can and can't buy in bulk and knowing how much work you plan to do will assist that directly. As with most things, buying in bulk, especially when it comes to wax is the best way to go. The more you buy at once, the cheaper wholesale candle making supplies become. If you plan on putting out an entire array of scented candles, there are many offers online for bulk purchases in fragrance and dyes. Bear in mind that this will also help if you are trying your hand at making the same types of candles consistently.
